This original watercolour painting of "Mexican Summer 1" was based on an iron plant in an old Mexican clay pot.
From the Artist:On a hot summer day, I noticed the playful dance of strong sunlight filtering through the leaves in this old Mexican clay pot.
This light created rich contrasting shadows and seemed to change the colors of the leaves. I was especially intrigued with how the sunlight defined the rough texture of clay pot and highlighted that rough texture against the smooth, almost translucent quality, of the plant leaves.
