"Mourning Dove" is a painting that visually represented the
feelings of sadness and sorrow over the loss of loved ones in my
own life. While driving
through the cemetery, I was touched by the sight of a stone
angel with large beautiful wings which was draped over a family
monument as if in protection.
Upon hearing the call of an actual mourning dove, it
seemed an appropriate name for this painting as I asked God for
comfort.

The name of the painting came from the scripture in Isaiah 38:14.
"I cried like a swift or thrush, I moaned like a mourning dove…" (NIV)
